Tibetaans karakters worden weergegeven met behulp van het Brahmi Script en dan met name m.b.v. het Devanagari Script. Hoe lang ze al gebruikt worden, kunt u lezen op de: Geschiedenis van de geschreven taal .


Het alfabet staat hieronder, waarbij HTML-codes werden gebruikt. Enkele extra karakters worden niet vermeld - echter wel onderaan [ ondermeer in de Tibetaanse tekst ]. Het gaat om htmlcodes zoals b.v. 3851 (punt) en 3853 (verticale lijn) en andere, die als toegevoegde karakters vaak worden gebruikt. Om de karakters zelf te kunnen maken, heeft u deze site nodig of voor het gebruik van hexa-decimale unicodes deze site . Daarnaast worden ook plaatjes gebruikt om het Tibetaanse Alfabet weer te geven.
Om het alfabet te kunnen weergeven werden Tibetaanse fonts gedownload: Font
"Tibetan Unicode" (utibetan.ttf) en die werden in de directory C:\WINDOWS\FONTS neergezet. Kijk hieronder voor de download-sites; kies een andere indien u Windows 2000 of XP gebruikt.

Tibetan characters are written by means of the socalled Brahmi Script and more specific the Devanagari Script. The age of the written language (of the script) is mentioned in: the history of writing .


The Tibetan Alphabet is presented below. HTML-codes are used tot present them. The alphabet does not contain all html-codes/characters (p.e. html-codes 3851 and 3853 are not present). To view those special, additional characters you can look at the examples below. You can produce the characters yourself. Look for information at this site or for using hexa-decimal unicodes this site . Also pictures are used to present the Tibetan characters.
In order to present it in the correct way Tibetan fonts were downloaded: Font
"Tibetan Unicode" (utibetan.ttf) and were put in the directory C:\WINDOWS\FONTS. See below for the downloads; choose another if you use Windows 2000 or XP.
