De (Oud) Duitse schrijftaal en de karakters behoren tot een bepaald taal-schrift , de manier waarop de letters geschreven worden. Informatie over de ouderdom van de (Duitse) schrijftaal kunt u vinden op de site geschiedenis van de geschreven taal .
Hierboven staat een gewone, normale Duitse tekst zoals men die 100 jaar geleden schreef. Hieronder vindt u een veel oudere (oud) Duitse tekst; plaatjes van de digitale tekst en van het origineel gevolgd door dezelfde tekst, die volledig digitaal is. De fonts die gebruikt werden zijn: Kelt + Schwaben Alt. De tekst in 1250 jaar oud en is getiteld: "Merseburger Zaubersprüche". Daaronder volgt het Duitse alfabet gevolgd door diverse verwijzingen (vertalen, fonts, etc.)
